In a bid to create awareness about COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, Nirvana Films on the recommendation of Dr. Vivek Anand Padegal – Director – Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road has come up with a video on masking up amidst lockdown relaxation in Karnataka. This awareness cum fun video is endorsed by the Karnataka Pulmonologist’s association whose members are doctors who are on covid-19 duty.
The message of the video, #MukhaMuchkoliMatteVaccineChuckhkoli emphasises the need for wearing a mask and to take vaccine compulsorily in order to stay safe in upcoming covid waves.
The idea of this video came up during the second wave when the healthcare workers were struggling to treat covid-19 sick patients at the hospital. Several Kannada artists have volunteered free of cost to contribute shots in the video. The song composed is irreverent and a fun take on a very colloquial Kannada phrase. This is a sincere attempt to save lives by changing habits and attitudes.

Dr. Vivek Anand Padegal – Director – Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, said, “Ever since the beginning of the pandemic it has been doctors who have actively been involved in figuring out how to deal with the covid 19 outbreak. This included how to treat, when to treat, and prevent. During each surge, our roles change.
After encountering numerous sick patients and witnessing shortages of beds, ventilators and medication it occurred to me that a lot of this was preventable if people followed covid-19 safety protocols strictly. I tried various ways spread awareness on the importance of wearing masks but was not satisfied with the results. It is estimated that Covid transmission can drop upto 70% if appropriate precautions especially masking are taken. We have created this awareness video on masking up amidst lockdown relaxation in Karnataka and it is endorsed by the Karnataka Pulmonologist’s association.”
