Mumbai: Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. (BCCL), one of India’s leading media organizations, has announced two senior leadership appointments aimed at strengthening its premium media and business brands. The company has appointed Ruchira Kanwal as Business Head – 1838 and Madhurita Sengupta as Head – ET Product, Marketing & Events for The Economic Times.
The appointments reflect BCCL’s continued focus on expanding its premium content platforms, enhancing audience engagement, and driving innovation across its media and events businesses.
Ruchira Kanwal to Lead Growth of 1838
Ruchira Kanwal joins BCCL from RPSG Media, where she served as Business Head. She brings more than two decades of experience across luxury, lifestyle, fashion, travel, weddings, hospitality, and premium media.
Earlier in her career, Kanwal held leadership positions at Condé Nast India and The Oberoi Group, where she contributed to the growth of premium publishing and luxury brand initiatives.
In her new role as Business Head – 1838, she will oversee the platform’s growth strategy by building an integrated ecosystem that combines:
- Community engagement
- Events and experiences
- Media platforms
- Strategic partnerships
- Magazine publishing
- Premium brand collaborations
Her mandate includes expanding 1838 into a comprehensive lifestyle and experiences platform for premium audiences.
Madhurita Sengupta to Head ET Product, Marketing & Events
BCCL has also appointed Madhurita Sengupta as Head – ET Product, Marketing & Events for The Economic Times.
Prior to joining BCCL, Sengupta served as Chief Marketing Officer at JioBlackRock Investment Advisers. She has also held senior leadership roles at several global organizations, including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- DBS Bank
- Vodafone India
- HSBC
In her new position, she will lead product strategy, marketing initiatives, and events for The Economic Times brand.
Her responsibilities will include:
- Developing new products and offerings
- Strengthening reader engagement
- Expanding marketing initiatives
- Enhancing advertiser relationships
- Supporting the continued growth of The Economic Times brand
