BP named Kartikeya Dube as Head of India Operations

BP has named Kartikeya Dube as the new Head of Country for its India operations and Senior Vice President for gas and low carbon energy. Dube will take over from Sashi Mukundan, who is retiring after 42 years with the company, including 15 years leading BP in India.

The leadership transition will be effective July 1, 2024, with Mukundan ensuring a seamless handover until his retirement on September 30.

Dube, who has been with BP for over 20 years in senior finance, commercial, and transformation roles across India, Singapore, and the UK, expressed excitement about the new role.

“It is a privilege for me to accept this position,” he said. “Now, more than ever, it is a very exciting time for India. We are proud to be associated with India’s energy journey for more than a century and to have a strong partnership with Reliance Industries that helps us deliver real value to customers.”

Dube highlighted India’s importance to BP’s pivot to an integrated energy company and commitment to support the country’s ambition for energy independence by 2047. He looks forward to taking BP India’s growth plans forward and building on Mukundan’s legacy.

Mukundan reflected on his “fantastic journey” at BP, including establishing the company’s gas business with Reliance that will supply 15% of India’s gas demand at peak and the Jio-BP mobility joint venture meeting India’s fuel and EV charging needs.

“Kartikeya has a track record of building teams and leading collaboration to support BP’s growth plans. I am confident he will lead BP India to greater heights,” Mukundan said.

With a century-long presence in India, BP is one of the largest international energy firms in the country, with interests spanning gas, fuels, lubricants, clean energy, digital services, and recruitment.
