The Housing and Urban Development Committee of PHDCCI successfully organized the ‘PHDCCI Sustainable Cities Summit’ under the theme ‘Viksit Bharat@2047 – Building Resilient Cities of Tomorrow’ at PHD House, New Delhi. The summit was marked by insightful discussions and the launch of a crucial knowledge report on financing sustainable cities.
Guest of Honour, Abhijeet Sinha, emphasized India’s remarkable economic journey and the pivotal role of sustainability in its future. He underscored the importance of aligning economic progress with environmental stewardship, drawing parallels between India’s Vedic traditions and the modern-day challenges. Sinha also highlighted the global recognition of India’s Mission LiFE.
Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI, stressed the need for human-centric sustainable cities and the importance of individual commitment to environmental practices. He emphasized the role of youth in driving the sustainability agenda.
Ashish Agarwal, Director, Resurgent India, unveiled the knowledge report on financing sustainable cities, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in this domain. He emphasized the role of public-private partnerships and innovative financing models like Green Bonds and Municipal Bonds.
Uddhav Poddar, Managing Director, Bhumika Group, underscored the urgency of adopting sustainable practices in the face of rapid urbanization. He highlighted India’s potential to lead the global sustainable cities movement.
The summit featured technical panels on Sustainable Urban Planning, Sustainable Mobility, Green Energy, and Sustainable Health Management.
