SKG Rahate appointed as Chairperson of Airports Economic Regulatory Authority

Former Union Secretary of the Department of Justice, S.K.G. Rahate, an IAS officer from the 1990 batch of the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) for a three-year term.

Rahate brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Secretary of the Legislative Department and as the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. Having recently retired from service, he is scheduled to assume office next week.

Established under the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Act, 2008, by the Government of India, AERA is tasked with regulating tariffs and other charges for aeronautical services provided at civilian airports across the country.
