Indian Coast Guard Executes Night Rescue Operation, Saves Injured Fisherman

In a daring night rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) demonstrated its prowess by saving the life of a fisherman who sustained a serious head injury onboard the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) St Francis. The incident occurred approximately 130 kilometers west of Veraval, Gujarat, amidst rough sea conditions on the night of May 1, 2024.

Prompt action followed a distress call received by the Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Sub Center in Veraval. Reacting swiftly to the emergency, ICG Ship C-153, engaged in surveillance duties, altered its course to render assistance in the medical evacuation operation. Despite the challenging conditions, the ICG successfully evacuated the injured fisherman from the IFB St Francis.

With utmost urgency, the injured fisherman was transferred to a medical facility in Veraval for immediate medical attention and further treatment.

This successful rescue operation stands as a testament to the Indian Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding precious lives at sea. Their dedication ensures the safety and security of all individuals navigating maritime waters, aligning perfectly with their motto.
