Exide Industries has named Avik Kumar Roy as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, following a meeting of the Board of Directors held earlier today. Roy will succeed Subir Chakraborty, who is retiring on April 30.
In an official statement, the company declared, “Upon the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) and subject to the approval of the Shareholders of the Company, the Board of Directors has appointed Avik Kumar Roy as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a term of three years, effective from May 1, 2024, until April 30, 2027.”
Avik Kumar Roy has been associated with the company since January 2, 2019, when he joined as President Industrial. He has served on the Company’s Board of Directors as a Whole-time Director (designated as Director-Industrial) since May 1, 2021.
He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and has completed his EMBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila. With over 34 years of experience as an Industrial Business Leader in various organizations, he brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.
Before joining Exide, Roy held the position of Vice President & Business Unit Head at Siemens India. He has also undertaken international management assignments, serving as Director-Strategy at Siemens AG, Germany, and Director of Siemens Energy in Bangladesh.
