The Army Dental Centre of Research & Referral (ADC R&R) commemorated its 25th anniversary on May 1, 2024. Lieutenant General MK Katiyar, General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Western Command, graced the occasion with a visit to the Dental Centre and unveiled a Special Postal Cover.
Accompanied by Director General Dental Services Lt. Gen Vineet Sharma and former Commandants of the Centre, the ceremony highlighted the remarkable journey of ADC R&R. Brigadier SS Chopra, Commandant of ADC R&R, outlined the institution’s achievements and initiatives, underscoring its evolution into a leading institution in dental education, research, and patient care.
As the largest dental establishment of the Armed Forces, ADC R&R offers postgraduate training in five specialties: Oral and maxillofacial surgery, Prosthodontics and crown & bridge, Periodontics and oral implantology, Conservative dentistry and endodontics, and Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics.
Dentists at the facility have achieved notable milestones in dentistry, including specialized procedures like Cranioplasty and TMJ arthroscopy. ADC R&R has also pioneered the use of Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen minimal sedation and intraoral scanners for fabricating Computer Aided Designing (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Prosthesis.
Moreover, the institution’s library is equipped with RFID technology, offering digital access to a vast collection of journals and books. The annual “Major General RN Dogra Memorial Oration,” delivered by distinguished figures in dentistry, was presented by Major General GK Thapliyal, Vice Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, on the theme “India that is Bharat.”
During his interaction with the personnel, GOC-in-C, Western Command, praised the exemplary service provided by the dental centre and encouraged all ranks to maintain their dedication in delivering elite care to soldiers, their families, and veterans. He commended the staff for their continuous efforts in enhancing patient care facilities.
