L&T Finance’s ‘Digital Sakhi’ Initiative Empowers Over 42 Lakh Community Members

Since its inception in 2017, L&T Finance Ltd. (LTF) has been driving significant impact through its ‘Digital Sakhi’ program, a key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. With a cadre of 1,370 trained Digital Sakhis across 7 states, the program aims to promote Digital and Financial Literacy (DFL) among rural populations.

Apurva Rathod, Company Secretary & Chief Sustainability Officer at LTF, highlighted the program’s progress, stating, “Our Digital Sakhis have played an active role in bridging the last mile gap, facilitating government scheme convergence, and empowering rural communities. In FY24 alone, they empowered over 11 lakh rural communities and supported 2,400 women entrepreneurs.”

Digital Sakhi, a flagship program of LTF, focuses on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 – Gender Equality, by training rural women as change agents in their communities. Equipped with mobile tablets and extensive training, these women promote digital financial transactions and foster financial inclusion.

In FY 2023-24, LTF expanded the program to new geographies, successfully empanelling 400 Sakhis in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. Across all locations, there has been a commendable 12 percent increase in digital payments adoption, furthering the agenda of a cashless economy and financial inclusion.
