Edelweiss Alternatives Expands Infrastructure Portfolio with Acquisition of Larsen & Toubro’s Stake in L&TIDPL

Edelweiss Alternatives, through its Infrastructure Yield Plus strategy, has completed the acquisition of Larsen & Toubro Infrastructure Development Projects Limited (L&TIDPL), acquiring a 100% stake. L&TIDPL, a subsidiary partly owned by Larsen & Toubro Limited and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, boasts a portfolio of seven roads and one power transmission asset in India, covering approximately 4,400 lane-kilometres of roads and 960 circuit kilometres of power transmission infrastructure.

With this acquisition, Edelweiss Alternatives significantly scales up its infrastructure platform, adding 26 assets to its portfolio. This expanded portfolio includes around 5,000 lane-kilometres of roads, 1,800 circuit kilometres of power transmission assets, and 813 MWp of renewable energy capacity, with an estimated cumulative annual revenue of Rs 3,000 crores.

Sreekumar Chatra, Managing Director of Infrastructure Yield Strategy at Edelweiss Alternatives, expressed excitement about the acquisition, highlighting its strategic value and robust track record of revenues and operations. He emphasized the platform’s commitment to creating further value through strong asset management and operational capabilities.

Subahoo Chordia, Head of Real Assets Strategy at Edelweiss Alternatives, underscored the platform’s appeal to various investor segments, citing their preference for managers with industry experience, operational teams, governance frameworks, and performance track records.

Chordia added that with this acquisition, Edelweiss Alternatives will have a diversified infrastructure portfolio across 13 states, solidifying its position as a leading infrastructure investor in India. The platform aims to offer bespoke capital solutions for infrastructure developers, facilitating asset monetization and capital recycling while providing high-quality credit and yield opportunities to domestic and global investors.
