IIT Kanpur startup Simactricals develops wireless charging system for EVs

Simactricals, incubated at the prestigious Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur, has announced the development of its wireless charging system. Founded in October 2020 by Mihir Mishra and Balaji Sriram, Simactricals quickly became known for its innovative approach to EV technology. Recently, Simactricals successfully raised 75 Lakhs through the SanchiConnect pre-seed cohort program.

Simactricals’ flagship product is a sophisticated wireless charging system designed to cater to a wide array of electric vehicles, including 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, warehouse bots, rovers, and drones. The company’s cutting-edge technology enables seamless charging experiences without the hassle of swapping batteries or dealing with incompatible connectors, thus addressing a critical pain point for EV users across India.

Apart from the 75 Lakhs funds raised through the SanchiConnect pre-seed cohort program, the company has also secured a total of 44 Lakhs in government grants, underscoring the recognition and support it has garnered for its pioneering work.

Speaking on this Mihir Mishra, Founder and Director, Simactricals said – “Simactricals is driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to simplifying the electric vehicle charging experience. Our wireless charging technology represents a leap forward in convenience and efficiency, making it easier than ever for EV owners to power up. We’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the EV industry.”

“At SanchiConnect, we are proud to support hardware deep tech startups like Simactricals that are leading the charge in sustainable technology. Simactricals’ wireless EV charging system aligns perfectly with our mission to foster environmental responsibility and drive positive change.’’ – said, Sunil Shekhawat, CEO at SanchiConnect.

Initially, Simactricals began with the development of its first prototype within a remarkable 45-day timeframe. The inaugural project involved the creation of a wireless charging solution for DRDO drones, allowing these unmanned aerial vehicles to land on designated pads and recharge effortlessly. This initial success laid the foundation for Simactricals to expand its reach and impact within the EV ecosystem.

At present, Simactricals is actively engaged with leading 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler manufacturers, collaborating on five Proof of Concepts (POCs) to demonstrate the efficacy of its wireless charging infrastructure. Moreover, the company has already made significant strides in the commercial sector, supplying wireless chargers for Powergrid rovers and drones tasked with monitoring the grids.
