Former Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj to Lead US-India Tax Forum for USISPF

The US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) has announced the appointment of former Revenue Secretary and ex-Secretary of Economic Affairs, Tarun Bajaj, as the head of the US-India Tax Forum. This significant move follows Bajaj’s recent role as an advisor to the Board of Directors at USISPF since January, underscoring his deep expertise and commitment to fostering bilateral relations between the two nations.

Tarun Bajaj, a distinguished 1988-batch Haryana Cadre IAS officer, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His tenure as Revenue Secretary was marked by his instrumental role in shaping fiscal policies and driving economic growth initiatives within the Indian government. Notably, Bajaj oversaw both direct and indirect tax revenues, playing a crucial part in stabilizing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework.

Moreover, Bajaj’s leadership was pivotal in formulating India’s economic response to the challenges posed by the global pandemic. He spearheaded the rollout of various relief measures and economic stimulus packages, demonstrating astute policy acumen and strategic foresight during a period of unprecedented uncertainty.

With his extensive background in public service and economic governance, Tarun Bajaj is well-positioned to lead the US-India Tax Forum at USISPF. His appointment underscores USISPF’s commitment to fostering robust economic ties between the United States and India, particularly in the realm of tax policy and regulatory frameworks.
