Tesco Bengaluru named Prakash Mall as Director of Engineering – Commercial Product

Tesco Bengaluru, the UK’s retail giant Tesco PLC’s global business services and technology arm, today announced the hiring of Prakash Mall as Director of Engineering- Commercial Product.

Prakash has more than two decades of experience developing corporate software for the retail, insurance, and healthcare industries. His area of expertise is leveraging emerging technology and deep business insights to solve challenging business challenges and create enormous value for the company.

Vidya Laxman, who has now migrated to the United Kingdom and will be part of the Tesco Bengaluru executive team, has handed over the reins to Prakash. Prakash will assist and deliver technological solutions in Space, Range, and Merchandising around the world in his new capacity. Prakash will also play a key role in developing innovation to provide Tesco consumers with integrated in-store and digital experiences.

Prior to joining Tesco, Prakash led the technology team at Target, building the ‘vision computing platform’ to solve for complex retail challenges. He has also spent over a decade working with IBM in the US and India.

Prakash has also filed two patents for automating business processes. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
