&pictures announces the Republic Day Premiere of Taapsee Pannu’s Rashmi Rocket at 5 PM

This Republic Day, &pictures is all set to bring the  Premiere of Taapsee Pannu Starrer ’Rashmi Rocket’ at 5 pm. Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Rashmi Rocket is more than a sports drama, it brought spotlight to the unjust rules of society for women athletes and less-spoken issues in the sports arena

Rashmi Rocket is a story of strong and determined Rashmi Vira from Kutch who grew up in a household that encouraged an independent lifestyle and fierce approach to achieve her goals. But Rashmi’s target to become the World-renowned athletic champion comes to an end when she faces the biggest hurdle on the grounds of gender bias in the sport. Thus begins Rashmi’s journey to overcome the barriers and bring the biases to justice.

Helming the role of the audacious Rashmi on screen, Taapsee Pannu along with powerful performances by Abhishek Bannerjee, Priyanshu Painyuli, Supriya Pathak and Supriya Pilgaonkar together unfold the arduous fight by Rashmi to claim her self-respect, leaving the audience in thrill. This fight extends and empowers all those silent fights put up by women athletes from small towns to break out of the chain of forced biases and inequality.

Talking about his role, Abhishek Bannerjee said, “Rashmi Rocket is a film that needs to reach as many people as possible. I thoroughly enjoyed prepping for my role as a lawyer in the film. The character is intense who believes in a cause. I took inspiration from some of my favourite lawyer characters that I have seen in the past. I’ve never played a role like this until now and that was quite exciting.”

Elaborating on Rashmi Rocket, Priyanshu Painyuli said, “I don’t want to get bored of watching myself on-screen, so for me what is key is to play varied parts and to try and approach each of them differently. The topic that we’ve tried to cover in this movie is very important and we feel it is something people should be aware of. Taapsee is a real-life rocket, she’s a fireball and I don’t think anyone could’ve portrayed Rashmi better than her.”

Watch the Republic Day premiere of ‘Rashmi Rocket’ on 26th January at 5 pm only on &pictures.
