Rapido has partnered with IndoFast Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility, to introduce 10,000 Piaggio electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with swappable batteries across India.
As part of this initiative, IndoFast Energy plans to set up over 100 battery swapping stations in Hyderabad and more than 200 in Bangalore by December 2024. Rapido aims to integrate these swappable EVs into its fleet, promoting sustainable transportation and supporting daily ride operations.
Piaggio’s E-City Max electric autos, featuring SUN Mobility’s battery swapping technology, offer extended range and reduced downtime. The collaboration is expected to deploy over 1,000 EVs in southern India by the end of 2024, starting with cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore.
The partnership began with a pilot program in 2023 in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and convenience of electric vehicles in public transport using IndoFast Energy’s swappable battery technology.
