DS Group Expands Hospitality Footprint in Northeast India

The Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), a leading FMCG conglomerate and multi-business corporation, has announced a major expansion of its hospitality portfolio in Northeast India. Strengthening its commitment to the region’s growing tourism and business potential, DS Group unveiled significant developments at its flagship property — Radisson Blu Guwahati.

This strategic move introduces the largest pillar-less convention centre in the Northeast, alongside the addition of 85 new guest rooms, expanding the hotel’s total room inventory to 280 rooms. The purpose-built 25,000 sq. ft. convention centre includes a 15,000 sq. ft. pillar-less hall with the capacity to host up to 1,500 guests, positioning Radisson Blu Guwahati as the region’s premier destination for large-scale events, conferences, and weddings.

Transforming the MICE Landscape in Northeast India

The launch of this expansive convention centre marks a pivotal step in addressing a long-standing gap in the region’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure. The integrated facility will enable Guwahati to host multi-day conferences, corporate gatherings, and large wedding celebrations with seamless accommodation and event management.

This initiative aligns with DS Group’s hospitality growth strategy, which focuses on high-potential markets with emerging business and tourism opportunities. Guwahati, a rapidly developing economic and administrative hub, was chosen for its strategic location and growing prominence as the gateway to the Northeast.

Speaking on the occasion, Nathan Andrews, Business Head, Hospitality, DS Group, said:

“DS Group’s expansion aims to reposition Radisson Blu Guwahati as a preferred destination for business and leisure events, leveraging the city’s evolution as a gateway to the Northeast. With personalized service, authentic local experiences, and a tranquil ambiance, we aim to integrate the region’s cultural ethos into a world-class hospitality experience.”

The additional 85 rooms are expected to be operational by the end of 2026, enhancing the hotel’s ability to host large events while ensuring guests enjoy a premium stay experience.

Showcasing North Eastern Cuisine and Culture

Beyond infrastructure, Radisson Blu Guwahati continues to celebrate the cultural and culinary richness of Northeast India. Its dining offerings highlight the region’s diverse flavors through unique restaurants such as Café B-You and Nest Asia.

Café B-You offers an array of international buffets and à la carte dishes with Mediterranean and Indian influences, while Nest Asia stands out as a culinary tribute to the “Seven Sisters” states. Guests can indulge in local delicacies such as Aloo Pitika (a traditional mashed potato dish), Masor Tenga (a tangy Assamese fish curry), and Black Rice Kheer, a dessert that beautifully captures the region’s sweet traditions.

This focus on regional authenticity not only enhances the guest experience but also positions the hotel as a hub for cultural and gastronomic exploration in Assam.

Strategic Location and Regional Connectivity

Conveniently located 10 km from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Radisson Blu Guwahati offers easy access to key attractions such as the Kamakhya Temple (9.8 km), Amchong Tea Estate (45 km), and the iconic Kaziranga National Park (174 km). The property’s location makes it an ideal base for both leisure and business travelers seeking serenity with connectivity.

The hotel has consistently earned praise for its warm hospitality, locally inspired design, and immersive experiences that combine global standards with regional charm — offering guests an authentic slice of Assam’s vibrant culture.

DS Group’s Vision for India’s Hospitality Future

The DS Group has been active in the hospitality sector since 2000 and continues to expand aggressively across India. Its current portfolio includes six distinguished properties:
