Procter & Gamble named Shailesh Jejurikar as Next CEO, Marking a Milestone for Indian-Origin Leadership in Global Business

Shailesh Jejurikar

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced the appointment of Shailesh Jejurikar as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. The move positions Jejurikar as one of the few Indian-born executives to lead a Fortune 500 American multinational, signaling a significant milestone in global corporate leadership.

Jejurikar, currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at P&G, will also be nominated to the company’s board at its upcoming October 2025 shareholder meeting. He succeeds Jon Moeller, who has served as CEO since 2021 and will transition into the role of Executive Chairman.

A Veteran with a Global Perspective

Shailesh Jejurikar brings over three decades of experience within Procter & Gamble. He began his journey with the company in 1989 as an Assistant Brand Manager in India, gradually climbing the leadership ladder through diverse roles across geographies and business segments.

As COO, Jejurikar has overseen Enterprise Markets, which encompass regions such as India, Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. He also played a pivotal role in leading core global functions—including IT, sales, manufacturing, and business development—contributing to P&G’s operational resilience amid global challenges.

Most notably, he led P&G’s Fabric & Home Care division—home to marquee brands like Tide, Ariel, Downy, and Febreze—which accounts for nearly one-third of the company’s total revenue.

Leadership Transition Amid Market Headwinds

Jejurikar’s appointment comes at a critical juncture as P&G navigates volatile global economic conditions, shifting consumer preferences, and evolving regulatory landscapes. The leadership change is expected to reinforce P&G’s long-term strategy and execution focus as it continues to optimize innovation, sustainability, and market responsiveness.

Jon Moeller, who will assume the position of Executive Chairman, praised Jejurikar’s leadership acumen, calling him a “principled, values-driven leader with deep operational expertise and a global mindset.”

A New Era for P&G and Indian-Origin Business Leaders

This appointment not only signifies a strategic move for P&G but also underscores the growing influence of Indian-origin professionals in global corporate leadership. Jejurikar joins a distinguished list of Indian-born CEOs leading multinational giants, highlighting the global talent pool emerging from India’s business and academic ecosystems.

As P&G continues to evolve its product portfolio and market strategies, Jejurikar’s blend of cultural insight, operational excellence, and visionary leadership is expected to shape the next phase of the company’s growth.
