The Rajasthan government has entered into an initial agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a significant investment of ₹3 lakh crore in the state’s renewable energy sector.
According to officials, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and UAE’s Investment Minister, Mohammad Hassan Al Suwaidi. This investment is aimed at establishing solar, wind, and hybrid projects with a capacity of 60 GW in Rajasthan’s western districts.
Chief Minister Sharma emphasized that India has set a goal of producing 500 GW of solar energy, and Rajasthan will contribute 250 GW towards this target. He highlighted that this partnership with the UAE is a crucial step in reaching that goal, and the project will significantly impact energy production in the state.
The MoU was signed by UAE Investment Minister Suwaidi and Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary of Rajasthan’s Industry Department. Chief Minister Sharma noted that Rajasthan’s investor-friendly policies have made it a preferred destination for renewable energy investments. The state currently leads in renewable energy production in India and has taken proactive measures to meet future electricity demands over the next decade.
He also mentioned that the state has signed MoUs worth ₹2.24 lakh crore with public sector enterprises to set up 32,000 MW plants in the past 10 months.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the economic and strategic ties between India and the UAE have strengthened. The UAE is India’s third-largest trading partner and second-largest export destination.
