DTDC Express Ltd celebrated its 35th foundation day by launching drone-based delivery services in partnership with Skye Air Mobility. This partnership brings a cutting-edge solution to last-mile delivery that promises to be both efficient and environmentally friendly.
The first drone flight from Bilaspur to Gurgaon covered 7.5 km in just 3–4 minutes, significantly faster than the 15-minute drive.
The new drone service will enhance DTDC’s vast partner base of over 16,000 and its coverage of nearly 96 percent of the Indian population, with an annual parcel handling capacity of 155 million. The drones will increase the rate of delivery, decrease emission levels, and help reduce road congestion. The service will be expanded to other parts of India, targeting specific areas for maximum impact.
Speaking about the partnership, the CEO of DTDC Express Ltd, Abhishek Chakraborty, mentioned that this cooperation can help to redesign last-mile logistics in the context of ongoing digitalization and changes in consumer behavior.
Skye Air’s Founder & CEO, Ankit Kumar, also stressed the ecological advantages and future impact of their drone systems on a global scale.
DTDC has been at the forefront of innovation, with achievements like the MyDTDC app and OTP-based delivery, and now introduces drone delivery as its latest advancement.
