In a significant administrative reshuffle, IAS officer Ajitabh Sharma from the 1996 batch of the Rajasthan cadre has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of Industries for the Government of Rajasthan. The state authorities announced Sharma’s appointment through a recent notification, emphasizing his extensive experience and expertise in various administrative roles.
As the Principal Secretary of Industries, Sharma will oversee key portfolios including Industries, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), State Enterprises, and the Delhi Mumbai Corridor. In addition to these responsibilities, he will serve as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for the Bhiwadi Integrated Development Authority (BIDA). Furthermore, Sharma will take on the role of Principal Secretary for Investment and NRIs at the Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP) in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Ajitabh Sharma has a distinguished career in public service. He has previously held the position of Chairman and Managing Director of Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited, where he played a crucial role in the development and management of metro services in Jaipur. Sharma is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, holding a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering.
His appointment is seen as a strategic move by the Rajasthan government to leverage his administrative acumen and technical expertise, aiming to bolster industrial growth and attract investment in the state.
