To celebrate the contributions made by the support staff and frontline workers across its communities, Columbia Pacific Communities, India’s largest and most preferred senior living community operator, launched a one-of-its-kind Christmas initiative #ReverseTheJoy and thanked them for their relentless hard work. Centred on the message of spreading positivity and gratitude, it brought together 15 seniors from Serene Urbana by Columbia Pacific, Bangalore, who planned a surprise for the support staff as a token of gratitude for taking care of them throughout the year.
Given that Christmas is the season of gifting, they also had Christmas gifts for each of the support staff, given to them by an in-house Santa. For the initiative, the seniors took charge of the community kitchen, usually used by the staff to cook meals for residents, and prepared a surprise Christmas feast for 90+ workers. They used their culinary skills to prepare sumptuous 12-course menu to mark the 12 days of Christmas.
Many of them decorated the venue with a Christmas tree and other fineries, and layed out a table. They doubled the celebrations by singing Christmas carols while the workers enjoyed a hearty meal. This warm gesture beautifully showcased how joy can be multiplied when it is reversed. It also highlighted why it is important for each one of us to care for those who work to make our lives better, but are often forgotten during festivities and celebrations.
Piali Dasgupta, Senior Vice President – Marketing, Columbia Pacific Communities, said, “Our support staff and the frontline workers work tirelessly round the clock to ensure proper care and wellbeing of our residents. This initiative captures the residents’ humble effort to thank them for their contributions by reversing the joy so they feel valued, cared and appreciated. Our senior residents have always stepped ahead to spread happiness and positivity; by dedicating Christmas celebrations to the workers, they have set a great example for others to follow. This initiative also highlights the strong bond shared between the staff and our residents. It underlines the fact they are all a part of the same family and such celebrations are a great chance to spread smiles, bring warmth and togetherness.”
The heart-warming reactions of the workers when presented with the surprise meal cooked by our residents and gifts bought for them, were captured in a film which was released across social media handles of Columbia Pacific Communities.
