The Great Khali, who was inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in 2021, has recalled his SmackDown debut wherein he took on The Undertaker. The Great Khali revealed that he had idolised the Phenom and it was a dream-come-true moment for him when he was told he would be taking The Undertaker on.

The Great Khali made his SmackDown debut in 2006, interrupting a WrestleMania 22 rematch between The Undertaker and Mark Henry. He burst onto the scene making light work of the Phenom on his debut.

In fact, he went on to face The Undertaker at Judgement Day 2006 and win the bout by pinning the legendary wrestler. The highest point of his career came as early as 2007 when he won the World Heavyweight Championship. Khali made several big-ticket appearances during his heydays in WWE.

Speaking to Rewind, Recap and Relive, Khali said Vince McMahon had told him to take the attack to The Undertaker on his debut, revealing his superstar opponent only hours before the bout.

“Vince said, ‘I want to debut you’ but he didn’t say who is my opponent. He gives me a call and says, ‘come to TV after WrestleMania.’ The same day, Michael Hayes said, ‘You have a big day. You need to go out during Mark Henry and fighting and you need to ‘Kill The Undertaker.’ I was so happy,” Khali said.

“He tried to explain and Vince said, ‘Yes! Kill him hard! Not easy.’ That moment was really great. All the world knew who was Great Khali. I want to thank Vince McMahon and WWE for making Great Khali. I appreciate Vince McMahon and WWE,” he added.

The Great Khali went on to say that it was a proud moment for him, considering his friends back in India were only aware of a few big names, including The Undertaker, during those times. The Undertaker retired from WWE after the Survivor Series in 2020, putting an end to his glorious 30-year-long career.
